Notes from July
I'm not the biggest fan of summer (see; heat, humidity, and being sticky with sweat all the time no matter how many showers you take), but I used to love the idea of it (being free of school).
We are currently dealing with a heat wave, and I will gladly report that I'm hardly surviving it. In fact, I'm currently grasping at the last bits of my sanity at the time of writing this.
I'm convinced that life during summer would have been way more manageable if we kept our cities built like traditional North African houses were, less concrete and more greenery, but alas.
My mint plant died. Not sure how I managed to do that, but I did. Painted my nails green to remember the fallen mint plant and instantly hated them. To compensate, I bought a cute dark green dress.
What i have been watching:
I finished watching Frieren and now i can't wait for season 2. Easily the best anime i have watched lately, everything, in my opinion, was well done, from character writing to world building to the themes they tackled. 10/10 would recommend.
Found this accurate review of Orphan: First Kill on Letterboxd
I also watched Perfect days and here are all the thoughts i had while watching it:
- This man seriously wakes up at the same time every day without an alarm. Talk about willpower!!
- Nice cleaning vlog. Cool toilets there Tokyo.
- Rock music. Cool trees pictures.
- Wake up, make your bed, water your plants, shave, freshen up, get dressed, drink coffee, load a cassette, drive to work, deal with your annoying coworker, go home, grab your bike, take a bath, get some dinner, come home, read, struggle to figure out how to read with your damn shadows covering the pages, sleep. Wake up, repeat again.
Currently watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, the show still hasn't kicked for me yet, so we will see how it goes. The opening song is a banger tho.
What i have been reading Vs what i want to read:
Last summer was my most active reading season. This year is proving to be the least productive reading wise.
I’m reading Jujutsu Kaisen manga currently because, apparently, not only am I impatient, but also a glutton of pain, if ykyk. (Can we use emojis?? Feel like this whole phrase would have been better with emoji use).
I have finished both Confessions by Kanae Minato and Gone Tonight by Sarah Pekkanen, and have been more than less impressed by both of them.
What i have been planing to read instead:
How To Say Babylon by Safiya Sinclair.
Happiness Falls by Angie Kim.
Working in customer service got me convinced that resisting the urge to knock some customers' teeth out would be a Herculean feat. I go home every day drained and wake up weary. I’m resisting quitting at this point, but i suppose it’s better than being jobless.
Whoever coined the phrase “the customer is always right”, deserves everything bad in this world and beyond.
I remember one of my university professors' recounting a bad customer service at a hotel reception and saying that if you work in a customer-facing job, and you woke up on the wrong side of bed, don’t show up. This is both right and detached from reality as one can get.
Please consider taking some time to look into donating (or sperding the word) to aid in resources, medical relief and other necessities. Here are few:

Take care and i will see you next time,
